Dear feminists,

convertedinvader:

Let’s trade.

I would like to offer you all the male privilege I supposedly have, and in exchange, I ask for nothing but all the oppression you face that so permeates modern society. Surely a great deal, right? Well, believe it or not, I have grown tired of being so terribly privileged. I’d much rather:

  • be paid less in exchange for being expected to work less hard than my male colleagues
  • be offended by my fellow women voluntarily posing nude for advertisements and magazine covers
  • have to think ahead and practice safe sex rather than terminating my pregnancy afterwards
  • be at a higher risk of rape, but get to be terribly offended by anyone suggesting precautions with which I can reduce that risk significantly
  • be coddled by the entirety of society and somehow make it out to be a horrid offense to me
  • get to declare anything inconvenient or offensive to me oppressive and inherently wrong

than

  • be seen as expendable and disposable
  • be allowed to show no signs of weakness or human fallibility, essentially being expected to be a perfect being at all times, resulting in constant pressure, stress, and thus a significantly higher suicide rate
  • be taken for a brute with criminal urges by default, regardless of my demeanor, attitude and manners, resulting in disproportionately larger conviction rates
  • have no word in whether or not I’m gonna be a parent (before you bring up the “no uterus, no opinion” thing, last time I checked, it’s not right to judge one based on physical traits they did not choose, and hell, if I could have an abortion, I much rather would than be stuck with a kid I’m not ready to raise)
  • be at a higher risk of literally EVERY violent crime except rape (for which the statistics are roughly equal)
  • have the legal system not even recognize my rape as a crime
  • have about as much chance to retain parental rights in case of a divorce as a snowball in hell

All in all, I would much rather live with your “I’m theoretically seen as lesser, which gives me immense practical benefits” oppression than my “I’m supposedly better off, which thoroughly fucks me over in practice and makes it trendy for people to hate me” privilege.

You supposedly fight for the same rights that we men have. So surely, this is an offer you cannot refuse… unless you suddenly think you’re better off with your oppression.

Did you just say men and women are raped in statistically equal numbers? No. Get the FUCK out. And rapists actually go for women who are more covered up so take your slut-shamey rape culture shit elsewhere. Also, you must be talkin’ bout them white wimminz because PoC women don’t get coddled for shit. Go do me a favor and play in traffic. Please.

It took me two seconds to understand this. I will never not reblog this. Everyone should do the same.

… This makes me want to turn into an angry amazon and cut off some penises. Wouldn’t accomplish anything, I’m aware. But it would make me feel like some stupid people might not reproduce.

I saw a post about mothers crying that had over six million notes. Why the fuck doesn’t this have just as many? One of my best friends was raped. He told her that she was gay because she hadn’t had a guy fuck her properly. There’s no excuse for rape, and there’s no excuse for people who say this shit about/to rape victims.
I may be a guy, but I’m a feminist. Feminism isn’t just about supporting women. It’s about supporting equality — no matter what race, religion, sexuality, or gender you are. No woman should be talked down to like this. But the saddest thing about rape? It’s never seen as a tragedy to the general public. There’s always some sort of justification for rape, and it’s sickening.
And I know I include rape in my role plays, but I do it because I don’t romanticize it. I know what rape is. It’s a filthy, disgusting, power-hungry thing. It’s not sexy. It never has been, and it never will be.
So fuck anyone who supports rape, and fuck anyone who made a comment like this to any man or woman. No one should be thankful for this shit. No one.

It disgusts me that this has even been said, and that this doesn’t have more notes.

Why the fuck would you tell that to someone?

Welcome to the life of a Fat Chick. Who would rape one of us, right? We should be lucky to get some action, fat cows that we are. One more subgroup (cf gay males, straight males, trans* individuals) that under-reports rapes because of additional stigmas on top of the violation they’ve suffered.

I literally feel sick. What the hell is wrong with the world that this even happens? What the hell are those people thinking?!

I can’t even begin to find the words to describe my feelings right now.

This is all I could get out before I started growling at the computer:

stoya:

Jesse Jane (god bless her sweet, bubbly heart) made a choice to get a massive breast augmentation. Seriously, each one of her breasts is about as big as her head. She really wanted giant tits. She now has giant tits and is consistently happy with them. I think they look pretty cool on her even though I wouldn’t want them in my own body.

Her choice is just as valid as the choice of a woman who gets heavily tattooed, or declines any sort of body modification. This applies to any woman who does or does not make changes to her appearance, whether they are mostly permanent and surgical or extremely temporary and involving a tube of lipstick or mascara. You might not like it, but you don’t have to look at them, fuck them, or be friends with them if you find their choices that offensive.

I’m really tired of hearing “porn fans” say things about how they like me better than “those women who have ruined their bodies with plastic.” That’s a direct quote from one… one who happens to be female. I’m especially tired of seeing them specify which women they’re referring to by name. That’s not paying me a compliment. That’s saying nasty things about coworkers that I appreciate as human beings and respect.

I’m also really tired of hearing some feminists say that any CHOICE made by a woman is invalid or wrong because it doesn’t line up with THEIR idea of liberated womanhood. Do you want equality and freedom of choice or do you want everyone in the sex industries and other traditionally female occupations to roll over and do what you say? If you want the latter, you are just as bad as the patriarchy that you rail so hard against.

My body, my choice.

Oh Stoya, I love you. You are wonderful. <3

This is what I saw when I was driving through Fremont (in Seattle) on 99 Thursday and Friday, October 11th and 12th, 2012.  Some Riot Grrrls used this shut down motel as their canvas.  It made me feel so good.

On October 3rd, I made this post after being told that I should be nice to sexist male feminists just because they call themselves feminists.

On October 7th, Kelley Temple makes this tweet, without any credit to me, and then continues to have conversations with people who are praising her over it.

Then Marchingstars attributes Kelley Temple when quoting me here on tumblr and people reblog it everywhere.

I’d really appreciate it if people could reblog this around a bit.  At first I’d assumed it was some weird misunderstanding and I was willing to let it slide, but Kelley Temple is right there, plagiarizing me, not giving a shit.  And people are spreading it around on tumblr, not giving a shit.  So if you could reblog this and maybe let people know if you see the plagiarism come across your dash, I’d be super grateful.

yes! this has been bugging me so much but I couldn’t remember who the person who originally said it was. It’s soultired!

even if a sex worker is white and upper class and cis and vocational and straight and stable and educated and all the other stuff that you insist makes her voice irrelevant…

… that still doesn’t give you the right to mock her, especially as she still faces the stigma attached to sex work.

she’s on the upper tiers against other sex workers but she’s still rungs below every non-sex worker out there.

and she still knows more about actual sex work than you ever will reading about it on the internet whilst saying her voice is meaningless

even rich vocational sex workers can have bad experiences which intersects a lot with the stigma and discrimination

not that she can talk about them though

cos feminism and the sex positivity vs sex negativity movements have set her up to fail, anyway.

i will elaborate on this more in the morning bed time now

No. Because F*eminism has a history of ONLY listening to white, upper class, cis straight, educated sex workers and and ignoring those who are not doing this of choice. F*eminism has a history of ignoring the under-privileged all the time and sex work is not a fucking exception. So I’m sorry for not caring as much about [your] story as I do about the trans women with pimps who don’t get a chance to share in public circles.

“Most white feminists look at me disdainfully when I recount some of my choice violent moments. They are appalled, morally repelled by this unbecoming behavior. One even giggled, holding her breastbone ever so lightly and saying she’s not the violent type, blah blah blah. The messages are, 1) I’m educated and you’re not, 2) I’m upper class and you’re not, 3) I’m a feminist and you’re not (since her brand of feminism is equated with nonviolent moon-to-uterus symbiosis). My “men” can do the fighting, but I, gentle maiden, shan’t; the new feminism remaking a generation in the image of the suburban, wealthy, sophisticated, genetically genteel. No one protected me when a loved one cracked my head on a public street one might, not even the college educated Upper West Side white women strolling by pretending not to notice. I don’t like getting hit either, but what are you gonna do when someone grabs your tits? Meekly whisper you won’t stoop to your attackers level? and what level is that exactly? if that’s the way “women” react, how do we classify the elderly Filipinas on a subway train who, when Joe Dickwad grabbed my ass, congratulated me for whacking him as hard as I could, screaming obscenities, and chasing him - to his utter shock and dismay - through the station? They were the few who seemed to acknowledge, respect, and allow for “aggressive” forms of resistance instead of strapping on moral straightjackets for the nineties which we “women” must squeeze into. If that’s a woman, I’m not one. I am an animal who eats, sleeps, fucks, and fights voraciously - I assume a “good” woman does it gently and in the missionary position only.”

A Jezebel appreciation post.

agender-queer:

Also titled: “Jezebel is bad because Jezebel is bad.”

There are plenty of reasons (more than I realized when I started writing this) why Jezebel is a terrible website and I am disgusted by the amount of people who blindly use them as a source. They’ve had some pretty good articles, but I’d rather get my news elsewhere.

Not only do they constantly equate being a woman with having a vagina and being a man with having a penis, but they also completely ignore important intersectionality issues like race, sexuality, etc. It’s largely heteronormative. It is really only useful for white, cis, straight, able-bodied woman who are content focusing on white, cis, straight, able-bodied issues.

  • Hugo Schwyzer writes for them. He’s bad. I was able to use him as a source for a paper I wrote on how men are oppressed by women (it was a joke paper I wanted to write just to see if I could do it).
  • I already mentioned that Jezebel is completely ciscentric, but could that have something to do with their complete lack of concern about the CeCe McDonald case? The only coverage I could find on her was an article titled “Why Don’t We Hear More About Attacks on ‘Flamboyant’ Transgender Women?’  Can we take second to think about that headline? Then there’s this sentence: “Is the mainstream media — and society as a whole — ignoring violence against transgender women who aren’t as interested in “blending in” as other members of the mainstream LGBTQ community” Can someone actually explain this to me? Is this what flamboyant looks like? How was she not interested in blending in? Jezebel doesn’t think it’s about discrimination. The article then goes on to imply that it’s because she’s not “normal” like gay people and doesn’t really specify the difference between gender and sexual orientation. Oh, and of course there’s only a teensy tiny mention that her race had anything to do with this. But oh wait, at least they talked about Pussy Riot, right
  • More race issues: They defend the new Honey Boo Boo show and criticize the backlash that it receives—again, ignoring the racism factor. A lot of people are not just upset because the show is plain ridiculous. Had the child been a PoC, the reaction would be entirely different, Jezebel. But I mean, don’t talk about that.
  • They publish an article on Gwyneth Paltrow using the n-word, but say it’s up to us to decide if she is allowed to use it. I’ve said it before, but remaining neutral on a subject allows you to side with the oppressors.
  • We all remember their complete bullshit article on why we should listen to the rapists on Reddit.
  • “I agree with Daniel Tosh!” Then they say that if you’re offended by every rape joke, you’re wrong. And they say that some rape jokes are okay, which is something I am personally opposed to.
  • They think we shouldn’t criticize feminists of the past because we wouldn’t be where we are now without them. But where we are now is only good for white, cis, straight, able-bodied women.
  • They bring up issues such as obesity but fail to discuss geographic and other socioeconomic factors, thus allowing readers to take what they say at face value without any further education.
  • Then there’s this asshole post that makes a bold, harmful statement about how pro-ana blogs can help people with EDs without anything to really back it up and comes to no real conclusion.
  • Because using ableist language is okay as long as you’re criticizing the right people.
  • I’ve already commented on one of their recent articles about Rihanna and Chris, but they criticize her another time for still interacting with him. Cutting an abuser, especially one that you love, is not so easy.
  • My real problem with their article on circumcision was this quote: “That said, if I had a boy-baby, I think I would probably circumcise him (not, like, with my bare hands, but you know), because I can’t imagine one unremembered trauma could be more painful than a lifetime of a nasty, unfair, pervasive stigma. But that’s just me.”

There are countless more articles but I can’t keep looking through their website without wanting to set fire to every cis, straight, white feminist. Jezebel is a terrible excuse for journalism.
