Shit like this is what makes my job so hard! Everyday I have to go into a household, alone to install or repair something…..and there are moments the I feel tension because my customer may have had some type of assault that makes it extremely hard to live everyday life. Women, men, nor children should not have to resort to learning self defense against rape or any other type of assault. From personal experience…….I’ve had to try and answer the question “why me” and it was to my own niece! The topic I have chosen to write about for essay one in that of rape culture. Women, and sometimes men, are constantly put on trial when they go to the authorities as victims of rape. As a victim, and a friend of other victims, I have personally had to go through this ordeal on my own. I want to shed light on the situation that many people don’t even realize still happens today. The thesis I have picked is, “Though it may seem to be an outdated issue, rape culture is still a large part of society today. Rape culture involves slut-shaming, victim blaming, and an overall attitude where the word rape has become synonymous with losing a game by a large margin.” I will support my argument with statistics, logic, and testimonies from individuals. A possible issue that I may face is that it may seem like common sense not to blame victims, or use the word slut so loosely. However, it still happens everyday and I believe that people need to be aware of the issue.
No one disputes that an on-duty Irvine police officer got an erection and ejaculated on a motorist during an early-morning traffic stop in Laguna Beach. The female driver reported it, DNA testing confirmed it and officer David Alex Park finally admitted it.
